King of Prussia, Pa.-based Tekni-Plex Inc., a company that develops and manufactures packaging materials and precision-crafted tubing solutions, has announced it will invest more than $9 million to upgrade and expand manufacturing infrastructure at its facility in Flemington, N.J. The project will result in new capabilities and additional capacity to meet the company’s growing customer demand.

The 18-month project is hoped to further enhance technology and increase capacity at the plant, which primarily produces multi-layer flexible packaging structures for a range of heat-seal and pressure-sensitive closure liners for various applications, as well medical device packaging and pouch materials. Capabilities at the Flemington include extrusion and dry bond lamination, coating, slitting, and printing.

“Upgrading our Flemington facility enhances our ability to meet the needs of our expanding customer base with high-quality, competitively-priced products and provides the foundation to introduce new and innovative products,” said David Andrulonis, general manager and vice president of Tekni-Plex’s Flexibles Division. “The project also utilizes the vast experience of our dedicated workforce to deliver a pipeline of new products nearing commercialization.”
